The Programme for the cyclotourists

welcome to the village Terchová and of course in the region Malá Fatra. If you would like to know amazing and unknown places and you would like to learn something from the history of this region or just to take delight in the majesty of nature and in architecture of Juraj Jánošík´s birth-place, then don´t hesitate and come to cycle on cycle routes in the region of Jánošík. Almost all cyclo routes start in Terchová in front of the church near the relief map of this region. The most of the cycle routes are designed for holiday cyclists but of course they are suitable for families with children as well. We didn´t forget either the fans of advanced mountain-bike rides. We prepared an interesting offer for them.

There are 262 km of marked cycle routes in the region of Jánošík.

The registered cyclotourist routes

We start in Terchová at the church and we take the yellow route (8428) to Panská lúka. From there we rise until we come to the direction point at the settlement Káčerovci. The asphalt road will change to a nice meadow path, but it will be more and more steep. Be ready to push your bicycle sometimes. But be careful because you can capture local bears. As a reward, Mravečník hill (992m) will welcome you with good news that the route leads only downhill. But don´t enjoy it very much, because you are going to find out that your own bicycle can embarrass you sometimes.

The cyclotourist for parents with children and for seniors

Not difficult and relatively short cycle route which leads after the asphalt road to the settlement Štefanová. We recommend you to cycle in the evening at the sunset and stop for a while at Tiesňavy, when the sunlight changes the atmosphere of this place. Try to say, what some rocks resemble to you. Don´t forget to turn left above Tiesňavy and go to see old beautiful cottages in Štefanová..

After the hard rise is good to change your T-shirt and only by walking to have a look at for example the symbolic cemetery-it is the reverenced memory to the victims of Malá Fatra. On your tour to back don´t forget to check the brakes on your bicycle because we will ride down without one pedal.

The route starts in a village Strečno on the right bank of the river Váh at the foot-bridge. About 2 kilometers is the route leading in conjuct with the blue cycle route around dam Žilina. Then we have to turn in the village Varín and we pass through this village on the main road –the direction Terchová. We can see the glamourous panorama of Krivánska Malá Fatra with Malý and Veľký Rozsutec at the back. We rise slowly through village Krasňany,gradually we pass by villages Belá, Nižný a Vyšný Kamenec to Terchová. But this is not the end of our tour- at this place the routes lead into 12 directions. We rise through settlements Biely Potok and Podhorskovci to the saddleback Rovná Hora. The final rise is very steep but you can take delight in beautiful view of Chočské vrchy, Malý Rozsutec, Kysucká vrchovina and Oravské Beskydy. Soon we go down through Petrová to valley Zázrivka and we turn left to Zázriva. Then we go up the village to the part Havrania and its settlement Veľká. The string is still creek Zázrivka. From the settlement we go by asphalt road and we have to pass through 3 bridges. Then our route turns left steep and after 1,5 km the route turns right again and it rises to cottage Klobučná (edge Párač). Then we go down hill Hole and by asphalt road we rise to valley Biela Orava and to village Oravská Lesná towards the church. Here our route joins with Oravská cyclotourist artery. They together lead to village Zákamenné. Here our route divides, we have to turn left to village Novoť, where the marking goes to the end. But if you would like you can continue to the frontier crossing with Poland (the edge Novoť). But this last part is not marked.
